Learning is beautiful.

Lovely Thoughts: I want to thank everyone who came to my master class at ULTA on Saturday with Studio Gear. We had such a great time! It was a morning full of learning and laughs! Everytime I host a class, I always walk away feeling even more inspired! There were so many great questions asked and ideas shared. We spent our morning talking by about Beauty Basics: Makeup 101. Starting with the importance of skincare, basic brushes to buy and why, understanding primers and concealers and how to use them to your benefit, and last we talked about foundation and how to get correctly color matched.

There were many things that stood out to me about the day. But here are my favorite!

Skincare: When we talked about skincare and I shared with the group skincare basics they need to know when selecting a regimen. I told the group that the #1 skin concern with women is AGING. I showed these pictures of Audrey Hepburn. I think it's such a powerfull reminder that we all grow old. Even Audrey. It's a matter of how gracefully we age and how well we take care of our skin. It's up to us to learn what works best for our skin type. Remember, makeup will only look as good as the skin under it -- no matter how old you are.

Foundation: Did you know that according to a Estee Lauder Foundation study that 94% of women are wearing the wrong foundation color? We've all heard Oprah talking about how many women wearing the wrong bra size. But what about the wrong foundation? I mean, it's on our face! So please be sure to get correctly color matched.

The group was surprised when they each shared how they selected their last foundation. Only one of them actually got color striped. The rest just used their hand as their guide. Something to think about!

Lovelies: After the master class, Studio Gear held a huge makeup event. I stayed after the class to answering questions and to offering beauty tips and techniques. Out of the people I met, the two that stood out the most were this lovely gal and her mother. Her main concern was the fact that she was a busy mom and didn't have time (or energy) to commit to a full makeup routine. Here are some of my tips for Mommie Makeup.

- No Matter What, Don't Forget About Your Skin: It's easy to neglect your skin when you barely have any time for yourself. But make it a point to  care for your skin no matter what. Meaning, wash your face at night, use hydrating moisturizer, and don't forget SPF. You will thank yourself later, I promise.

- Keep Makeup Simple: Opt for easy to use foundations like BB or CC creams. Foundations that are going to even out skintone and can be applied quick and easy. Plus these new generation of foundations are error proof.

- Don't Skip the Concealer: Find a concealers that also acts as a highlighter. This will help to soften dark circles and create the illusion of a rested eye.

- Multitaking Products for a Mulittasking Mommie: Get more out of your products. Try using a blush that can also be used as a lip color. Or a eyeshadow stick that can also serve as a eyeliner. Every minutes counts!

- Don't Underestimate the Power of Color: Every now and then mix-it-up by adding in a bright lip. There are no rules that say mommies can't wear red lipstick! Just look how good it looks on her!

The other question I was asked a few times was how to wear makeup for more mature skin. Here are a few tips to keep in mind for Ageless Beauty.

- Hydrated Skin is Glowing Skin: It all starts with skin. You want to make sure that your skin is well hydrated. When skin is hydrated, it glows and it looks more youthful.

- Keep Eyeshadow Matte: Eyeshadows with a matte finish look polished. Sometimes eyeshadow with a lot of shimmer can settle into fine lines and wrinkles on eye lids.

- Don't Forget Mascara: I'm a huge fan of mascara at any age! So focus on lashes to make eyes appear more open-

- Gloss Works: Many women think that lipgloss is just meant for younger women. But I completely disagree. I think a perfect gloss can allow lips to look hydrated and not so dry. Just make sure that there is not too much shimmer and that it's a true color. It's also the perfect pair over your favorite lipstick.

- Use a Hydrating Concealer: Most women are concerned about concealer settling in to their fine lines and wrinkles around the eye area. And it can happen if you are not using the right concealer. Try to find a concealer that acts as a treatment and concealer. Try Benefit Fake Up Concealer
