DAY 1: Smashbox Full Exposure

Lovely thoughts: I can remember the first time I wore mascara. I was in 7th grade and my mom took me to buy Maybelline Great Lash (you know the classic pink and green tube?). I was so excited. In my mind it was a real coming-of-age moment. In middle school, I remember going into the girls bathroom at lunchtime and seeing a group of 8th grade girls huddled together passing around mascara to try. I remember thinking two things: (1.) the thought of sharing someone else's mascara really grossed me out (and taught me about the importance of hygiene) and (2.) what it would be like when the day came for me to wear mascara. After I got my first tube, I was addicted. And since then, I have been on a mission to find a perfect one. It always seems that each one is missing something. What excels in length really comes up short in volume. Can one mascara deliver it all? I am hoping over the next 12 days I will find out! I will be trying some cult classics, some drugstore brands, some diamonds in the rough, and some expensive ones. Hopefully, I'll find my one and only special mascara!

For my first day, I must say this Smashbox Full Exposure was really close to perfect. There was just one thing missing... it just didn't volumize enough (for me). Don't get me wrong. It did add some volume, but if you look at the fourth picture, you will see that my right eye has mascara and my left eye does not. I definitely feel that it defines each lash and lengthens really well. But, I didn't feel like it gave me that much more volume than I already have. Overall, I would say that if you are looking for an amazing lengthening mascara (and volume doesn't concern you) that won't budge, this is your answer. Like I said, I want it all, in one tube! So, my mission continues...

If you have any suggestion or if you've found your perfect mascara, please let me know by emailing me at or send me a note on Facebook. I would love to try it and share it with everyone lovely enough to read this blog!
